National Theatre Live to Broadcast Fela! Worldwide January 13th

The Tony Award winning FELA! is the true story of the legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, whose soulful Afrobeat rhythms ignited a generation.

Inspired by his mother, a civil rights champion, he defied a corrupt and oppressive military government and devoted his life and music to the struggle for freedom and human dignity.

FELA! Is a triumphant tale of courage, passion and love, featuring Fela Kuti’s captivating music and the visionary direction and choreography of Tony-Award winner Bill T. Jones.  In short it is a fusion of dance, theatre and music.

On Thursday 13 January 2011 Fela! Will be broadcast live in high definition to cinemas around the world (including the UK with varying dates internationally). Find your nearest venue.

Thanks for the info. I have really been interested in this show, ever since I read about it on the internet last year.

As you well know, the family love Fela’s music a lot (especially what he stood for). Just rem Ani and Ty singing “Water, e no get enemy” in the car.

P has actually been to both Fela’s shrine and house in Nigeria several times, and met the great man himself on several occassions. Hence his love of the music etc.
Once again, thanks for the info. Take care bro.
